Tiling a kitchen back splash

Tiling a kitchen back splash can add some wonderful looks to a space that will bring an added depth to your counters and cabinets.

In this particular case the tiles chosen were from Artistic tile and were somewhat challenging to work with due to the outlets that are present in kitchens.

As you can see these are very small tile pieces and even though they are on a mat it was a bit tricky. The complication was the outlets. The mats and small pieces had to be cut to fit around them. If the tile had been larger it would have been a relatively easy procedure to cut them around the outlets.

Now that the tile has been cut it’s a matter of piecing them together around the outlets so that the pattern continues.

Working with small tile can be challenging but the finished kitchen back splash was well worth the time and effort.

  1. Great post on tiling a backsplash. It isn’t really that difficult or expensive in terms of square feet of tile and you get lots of style for a small investment. An easy way to make a quick update. Love it!

    Hey Todd and Sid !

Well that looks like a much more civilized way of doing a mosaic backsplash. When I do a mosaic backsplash, it usually involves hard liquor and cupcakes.

    • Hey Lynne, there were times when the liquor could have been used as sometimes the little pieces would fall off the mat and we’d have to attach them individually. That wasn’t fun and usually fell to Sid!
