Things to still come in the new house

As you’ve seen we’ve come a long way on the house project and we’re going to be getting into more finishing touches in the weeks to come. So here’s a little sneak preview of the list:

Flooring:

Engineered wood will be in most of the house with tile in the baths and mudroom

Electrical:

The lines are in but I have to attach all the switches, outlets and lights and then power them up at the breaker box.

Windows trim:

This should actually be done this week and we’ll have a post on casings, extension jambs, caulking and making them stay together next week.

Doors:

These will be installed and by then it will look like a house- almost

Kitchen cabinets:

They should be here by the end of the month so that will make the kitchen start to look like a kitchen.

Baths:

These should be mostly done by the end of the month and there’s a bit of tiling in both as well as plumbing.

Plumbing:

There should be plenty happening in the plumbing department because as of now it has only the bare bones of roughing in done.

Deck:

We still have one deck to build and the clear span beam of 20′ will I’m sure make for an interesting post. The calculations were done, the beam built so next we’ll put it up and…

So as you can see there’s still plenty more to come in this project. That’s the fun part of homes- there’s thousands of parts that make them up in the construction process. If there’s a particular part you’d like to look at more closely, just drop me a note or a comment and we’ll see what we can do.
