It could be New England by the look of some of the older homes here in Eleuthera, Bahamas

Sure there are distinctions such as the colors and the palm trees but if you look at the style of these homes they are very colonial. So why is that these homes could so easily be repainted and placed in New England and be right at home so to speak?

The reason is easy. The builders of these old homes and those of New England were all from England and had the same styles and construction methods. It was what they knew and were familiar with even though both places were not England. They had left for other reasons but brought with them what they were comfortable with as far as styles of homes. We all do the same thing. We want changes but then resort to what we were and are comfortable with from our pasts.
